What Is The Market Telling Us
Planet Labs’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 71 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The previous big move we wrote about was 15 days ago when the stock gained 7% on the news that an industry report addressing satellite hardware lifecycles and post-quantum cryptographic security highlighted the company as an active space sector participant with developments, according to the company’s press release. The report emphasized that satellites must be engineered to outlive the encryption systems protecting them over their operational lifecycles. Post-quantum cryptographic security focuses on creating encryption algorithms capable of protecting satellite data against potential threats from advanced quantum computing. Planet Labs PBC was identified in the report as one of the active space sector companies making developments in the field.
Planet Labs is down 14.5% since the beginning of the year, and at $17.44 per share, it is trading 66.1% below its 52-week high of $51.40 from May 2026. Despite the year-to-date decline, investors who bought $1,000 worth of Planet Labs’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,753.
ONE MORE THING: The $21 AI Application Stock Wall Street Forgot. While Wall Street obsesses over who’s building AI, one company is already using it to print money. And nobody’s paying attention.
AI chip stocks trade at ridiculous valuations. This company processes a trillion consumer signals monthly using AI and trades at a third of the price. The gap won’t last. The institutions will figure it out. You need to see this first. Read the FREE Report Before They Notice.
